PESTEL Analysis

A PESTEL analysis is a tool marketers use to analyze the external factors that impact an organization. The result from this analysis can help someone understand better the market in different areas. In our class, we were able to conduct research to analyze the job market for ourselves. In a PESTEL analysis there are 6 different factors to look at. These factors include:

  • Political
  • Economic
  • Social
  • Technological
  • Social
  • Environmental
  • Legal

Through these different categories you can assess different aspects of the SWOT analysis. This analysis looks at, more specifically, the opportunities and threats of an organization. While all these things can affect an organization, one thing I think has a large impact on an organization is the social environment. Organizations are social places both within and outside of the workplace. Many things can have an impact on the environment including aspects from other sections of the PESTEL analysis.

PESTEL analyses are tools that can help with decision making. In my case, this tool could be helpful when searching for a job and looking at different companies. Now that I am aware of this tool, I am excited to use it in the future.
